correct typical string-related Common Form validation problems

Concatenates contiguous strings:

```

Squashes contiguous spaces:

```javascript
assert.deepStrictEqual(
  fixStrings({ content: ['A ', ' B'] }),
  { content: ['A B'] }
)
```

Squashes contiguous blanks:

```javascript
assert.deepStrictEqual(
  fixStrings({ content: [{ blank: '' }, { blank: '' }] }),
  { content: [{ blank: '' }] }
)
```

Removes leading whitespace:
