i first tried changing the virtual backplane name to another name like testvirtualbackplane and testvirtualbackplane2, but i still couldn't see my emulated processor. then i realized that i had to modify the rslinx production (rslp) shortcut to point to the emulateexamplehmi project. so i changed the shortcut to point at my emulator and browsed the virtual backplane.

when you load the rslinx application in your es, there will be a processor catalog where you can browse the processes of your emulated controller. you should see your emulated processor if you have correctly configured the project name and it's correct in es.

if you are using the plc simulator and you would like to change the name of your virtual backplane, you must go back to the software simulator and change the name of the virtual backplane within the software simulator. in the production part, go to the server tab and change the server to point at your emulated controller.

if you need to use a real plc, you can use the backplane functionality within xeltix! with factorytalk 2.0, you can use the real plc with the emulator. i have a couple of blogs on this if you need to know more!

an error occured while starting the device with the virtual backplane. this is probably because the l2br virtual backplane driver is not supported by the selected hmi. please select a different hmi in the production server.

now, i have to install the factory talk client on the real plc. the installation is very simple, just like any other plc i suppose, just choose the model rslox f500. a new configuration window will be displayed. 84d34552a1
