ocad is one of the best in north america for the training of creative professionals, and theres been a shift to an increase in the demand for marketing and advertising professionals. this trend will only continue as the demands for creative professionals only grow. theres a tremendous opportunity for students to shape their own creative career by applying their unique skills and experience to their studies. i strongly believe that we are only just beginning to see what students can learn and produce.


it isnt too late to take advantage of this opportunity to develop a skill set thats directly useful in the modern workplace. students should look for a program that offers some coursework in business, marketing, or media and gain an in-depth understanding of the areas they want to work in. whether it is design, advertising, illustration, research, writing, publishing or other fields, making sure students get a thorough grounding in the core business of their field is a great way to get their foot in the door. a multi-discipline program will give students the opportunity to explore and learn about different areas of the industry, and best prepare them for a career in marketing, advertising, or design.

this is exactly what the creative community needs to continue to thrive and grow. im proud of the work that the ocad has done to help foster an environment for students to learn and grow, but we need to provide the tools that students need to fully prepare themselves for a career in marketing, advertising, or design. this is a very exciting time for the creative community, and we can all benefit from an understanding of the values and challenges of working in the creative industries. 84d34552a1
