but i'm not james bond. i'm not even a contemporary bond. and i'm not going to try and be him. but i did like quantum of solace. it was a good movie. i had fun with it. it is the type of bond that i would like to see more of. so, go see it. it's up to you, really. in my opinion, it is one of the best bond movies of the last decade. it is certainly the best of daniel craig's tenure as bond, and a worthy addition to the franchise.

yet if you are looking for a bond that really falls in line with the spirit of the character, a bond that is a little less thundering, a little less parachute-bending and a little less of a pyrotechnic display than 007 would have you believe, you are going to find that daniel craig has set his own course here. quantum of solace follows bond's footsteps with steadfast confidence, but i don't think anyone has ever put the franchise's best foot forward quite like craig.

by the same token, although 'quantum' is not by any means as entertaining or lighthearted as the last two craig-starred bond outings, it's quite a bit more fleshed out than the 1998's 'goldeneye,' and, with this concentration of story and character, the film works very well indeed. 'quantum' builds beautifully, introducing us to the members of bond's new q branch team (including olga kurylenko, ralph fiennes, ben whishaw and joey wiseth) as they are put through their paces. the film opens with a hand-held montage of the mi6 building and a shot of bond (craig) making his last face-to-face visit with m (michael green). that sets the scene and mood for the entire film. soon, bond is trying to figure out his new role as head of q branch, and what that means for him. his time on the job is not a smooth ride. shortly before he and his new team begin their full-time duties, a young man named jorge lobo, working as a courier for lasp (latin american support program), is killed while transporting a package to a south american country, which in turns sets off something very nasty for 007. all the while, bond is also trying to outguess dominic greene (mathieu amalric) and to stop greene's people from smuggling nuclear materials, as well as to find out who killed camille's (olga kurylenko) husband (and someone, apparently, in whom camille had some romantic interest). 84d34552a1
