chris added a playing style to his trumpet that was immediately recognizable to the jazz community. it was refined on the trumpet of such jazz greats as miles davis and woody shaw, and honed at san francisco conservatory of music. he recorded his first album as chris botti in 1988. his first single, 'je ne sais quoi', reached no. 8 on the billboard jazz charts in 1989. if you don't see an album you enjoy, try chris botti's tribute to miles (ishmael 2001), which features memorable renditions of 12 of the trumpeter's standards.


in 2000, botti put on his first of many trio performances, which included herbie hancock on piano and bassist brian blade. the live performance of 'he loves me, he loves me not', appeared in the movie soundtrack for the wedding singer. this release went on to top the billboard jazz chart.
