The walking head

CC BY 4.0

This explorable illustrates a simple model for pedestrian dynamics. The model can explain spontaneous lane formation in opposing flows, congestion patterns, and phenomena like crowd turbulence.

The explorable is part of the Complexity Exporables Collection. For more information about the system and its behavior consult the explorable

“The walking head” - Spontaneous lane formation, congestion and patterns in a simple model for interacting pedestrians

Installation & Use

Out of the box you can use the explorable in a basic index.html file like this

<!doctype html>
<html>
	<head>
		<meta charset="utf-8">
		<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width,initial-scale=1">
		<script src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@explorables/the_walking_head"></script>
	</head>
	<body class="avenir pa3 pa5-ns tj">
	    <div id="explorable_container"></div>
	</body>
	<script type="text/javascript">
		the_walking_head.load("explorable_container")
	</script>
</html>

The header <script> tag loads the bundle, the <div> in the document is the container in which the explorable gets anchored when the function the_walking_head.load() gets executed at the bottom. The load function needs the <div> container id as an argument.
