Embedded Frontend

Embedded Lyne Components client on legacy pages. This is published to Artifactory.

It is currently set to publish to https://npmjs.com for testing purposes. As Artifactory is highly restricted, the package can only be published correctly from a Jenkins job as development machines are blocked from access to Artifactory.

The package created is a specific subset based on embedded.ts and embedded.scss. The restricted subset can be tested in the page Storybook named "Mixed Overlay".

To push a new version

npm run prod npm version patch npm run fixup npm publish --registry https://bin.sbb.ch/artifactory/api/npm/sbb-frontend-embedded

Then update the dependencies in sbb-internet-frontend

Create your own NPM package & publish to Artifactory.

Switching to Artifactory:

It seems that the restricted security for Artifactory presents a problem. To use it as the source registry it needs to be easily accessible. Otherwise you can only install sbb-internet-frontend after doing a login with an account on Artifactory + a token that you get after logging in via Citrix. This creates a barrier for any casual access to developers checking out the repository and making a simple improvement, and adds a drag in general.

Using regular npmjs.com registry

If we publish to npmjs using the package is easy, nothing special needs to be done. The only potential issue is that the code that we will be publicly presenting will be in the npm registry as well.

This requires that we maintain a group e-mail login to npm for the publishing.

Similar dependencies:

  • @sbb-esta/journey-maps
  • @sbbch-rokas/journey-maps-client-elements
  • @swissfederalrailways/internet-tracking

Notes:

  • Can we pull out the Lyne Components dependency separately?
  • Put all code in single bundle (get rid of 1.js)

Set up Artifactory for "npm" and log in

npm config set registry https://bin.sbb.ch/artifactory/api/npm/ npm login

npm publish --registry https://bin.sbb.ch/artifactory/api/npm/sbb-frontend-embedded

npm publish --access public

npm unpublish @thepian/embedded@0.0.1
