Description

This Device Plugin allows you to to scan your network for BACnet devices and receive their configuration in EDE format, which can be used in futher configuration of thing-it BACnet devices.

Connectivity to BACnet

Make sure that the computer running thing-it-node (your thing-it Gateway) can connect your BACnet devices via an IP connection. As the BACnet protocol uses UPD broadcasts for an initial WhoIs / IAm handshake your BACnet devices and your thing-it Gateway should be on the same network to simplify the setup.

If your BACnet devices and your thing-it Gateway are not in the same network, additional network configuration and/or hardware may be required to ensure broadcasts from the BACnet devices can be seen by the thing-it Gateway and vice versa.

Configuration

Use the configuration portal at www.thing-it.com to create a BACnet scan device. The default settings is enough to perform the scan - just push the START button in the UI. However, you can cusomize the folowwing parameters:

timeout (default: 0) - time for performing the scan. When is set, after timeout exceeds, the device will automatically stop the scan and save the results. Zero value represents unlimited timeout of scan - you can press STOP and save scan results whenever you want;
port (default: 47808) - UDP port for communication with BACnet devices;
name (default: 'tid-bacnet-scan') - the name for the EDE-files to save the results of the scan. After scan if finished, its results are saved to EDE-files (one for each device found), zipped to the archive, and available to download via link.
