Description

A responsive Table of Contents component for tracking the currently viewed section based on scrolling

Installation

yarn add @wedgekit/toc

Note: In order to use @wedgekit/toc you must have installed react, react-dom and styled-components

Usage

The Toc component represents a responsive Table of Contents that responds to scrolling and focus.

Basic Implementation

activeSectionRef

Refs provide access to the underlying DOM element.

Type: RefObject<HTMLDivElement>

Required: ❌

A roving ref that always points to the div containing the active section title and indicator

Required: ❌

This is exposed but is only here so that styled-components will be able to style components correctly. Please do not use this unless you really know what you are doing.

containerRef

Type: RefObject<HTMLDivElement>

Refs provide access to the underlying DOM element.

Required: ✅

The ref to the div that holds all of the content. This is used to scroll when pressing on a section in the Toc.

domain

Type: 'default' | 'light' | 'dark'

Required: ❌

A string denoting the domain the Toc is used for. This defaults to 'default'.

extraScrollOffset

Type: number

Required: ❌

Number of pixels to remove from the the full viewport height. This is used to help with the auto scrolling when the toc is not allowed to be the full size of the viewport.
