{below is a screenshot of the error message. i've tried making the "xp sp3" folder a startup folder on the usb stick, and i've tried using the alternate install media, but neither works. i tried doing a clean install of xp sp3, and it still didn't work. the only other system i can boot into is win7, so i don't think the problem is with the usb stick or the usb stick being faulty.

hi leo, will this procedure work in this situation. the hard disk on my old laptop running xp pro sp3 has gone belly-up and i have just obtained a replacement hd.i have the original xp pro sp1 cd.i have a new laptop running windows 7 64-bit.can i create the slipstreamed xp sp3 cd on my new laptopim honestly not sure, though it appears that the process isnt dependant on what youre running at the time so it seems like it should work.16-dec-2011 reply {ez_ad_units.

i just want to run the scannow without having this error message pop up that i need to insert the cd for service pack 2. i am reading alot about using a bootable cd for the service pack updates. i just used windows update to perform this. i do have a sp1 and sp2 file in my c:/i386 folder. sp1 seems to have two files that sp2 doesn't have. they are cscdll.dll (offline network agent) and rdbss(system file).

in the case of the original cd, it was “boot.ini” and this file cannot be used to boot a cd or usb because it is not in the boot sector. my original xp cd does not have a boot.ini file. if you want to boot the original xp cd, the cd will have to be installed in the drive and then the cd will boot by itself. this has worked for me many times. if you have any other problems, feel free to ask more. i am not a windows guru, i just have a need for the sp3 and sata drivers and am looking for the easiest way to do this. 84d34552a1|`
