i'm going to be putting a small time capsule in the shed this weekend as well. i think it's a pretty cool way to look back at the previous four years and allow me to share my opinions with the family who got me into this. no, not future-me, current me.

i haven't always been able to edit fast, but i've always been able to edit. starting in 2004, i started doing the los angeles times photo assignment. it was a very hard assignment that involved being in one of nine cities (and three on top of three for some people) for two months, and being expected to go in to locations for six hours a day for four days a week for two months. and i had deadlines! and i had to finish editing photos on a deadline. so, i had to learn how to edit fast. it's tough, but you learn how to edit fast with experience. i've been up against many, many deadlines since then, always making sure i get my shit done before the deadline hits.

we've edited our films a lot in the last four years, starting with our brooklyn film festival premiere, "what do you see?" - which has been screened around the world. while making "what do you see?" we made a big decision: to go for the most accessible of our edits, so we eliminated features and features that we couldn't get done in a reasonable amount of time. this process took us, personally, a long time.

a recent article from the bbc looking into the death of covid-19 claims an alarming figure: "1 in 10 victims of covid-19 suffered from mental health issues before their death. a study by the king's college london coronavirus research centre is the first to show that many people who die from covid-19 have known social or behavioural problems in the weeks before they died." 84d34552a1
