each campaign has a unique feel. while the first one was definitely the most exciting (for me), the native american one was also pretty fun and i actually had a fair amount of fun with the mexican campaign. however, i really enjoyed the first campaign and would have liked to have played it all the way through. it probably doesn't help that i was in a hurry (i hadn't completed the other three campaigns and wanted to get this one done before i started reviewing it). in any case, i was able to win the first campaign without too much effort. the native american one was a little more difficult, but i managed to make it through all of the scenarios without much difficulty. all in all, i'd say that the game is well-balanced, but that there are a few areas that could use some fine-tuning. overall, it's a fun game that's worth a try.

americais a real winner in the historic strategy genre. it has a nice selection of units, an interesting narrative, and an engaging tutorial. the game also provides you with a fairly extensive set of historical events to choose from. although, the game is a little on the easy side and can be a little unforgiving with the more powerful units, it's a fun title to pick up and play for a few hours. as i mentioned earlier, i do feel that it could benefit from a little more balance and i'll be giving this title a strong recommendation.

the units screen is divided into three sections: army, production, and diplomacy. the army is comprised of your individual units, while production provides a view of all the resources you have available and diplomacy lets you reassign your existing units to different territories. combat is represented by a set of icons, each of which represents a specific type of unit (american infantry, native american archers, etc.) and the number of friendly units that are engaged by that type of unit. if you're playing in a multi-player campaign, you'll see a separate icon for each player in a given mission. note that different units have different abilities and can perform different tasks. for example, the native american archers have an ability to fire a sort of boomerang arrow that can deal damage to enemy units that are in range. this ability is shown by a red arrow coming out of the bow. 84d34552a1
