Now that I've gotten that out of the way, here's a brief summary of the series with a bit more information about the games' origins, development and future. "Blupimania" is the name of the game, and it was created by a French company named Epsitec. The game was released for DOS in the late 1990's, and it is similar to many other games that are popular today such as "Blastradius" or "Blasteroids". The main difference is that you play as Blupi, a balloon bobbing up and down in the sky. You must collect coloured balloons and avoid the tentacles of a Cyclops. The game still uses an old DOS interface, however it has been upgraded with a new interface and control panel. You can read more about the game on the official website. I've been told that the game was ported to Mac OS X, but I didn't get a chance to play it. This website is for people who would like to play the game. It contains a lot of files that you can download to your computer, and a lot of them are emulators, software you need to play games that were developed for computers which aren't compatible with Windows anymore.

Planet Blupi is an action role playing game that was released for Windows in 1998. It was inspired by Ultima and Diablo II. The story of this game is somewhat intriguing: the game was developed by Epsitec, a company that only made one other game for DOS, Blupimania. When Epsitec became bankrupt in 1998, the company was split into two companies: "Blupimania". With a name like that, I knew it had to be good. Epsitec later reformed, but everything they did was delayed or renumbered. Back in 1998 however, they renamed their company, releasing a new version of Blupimania with new content. A demo for the game was published under the name "Blupimania 2" (not to be confused with the first Blupimania, now considered "Blupimania 1"). It wasn't until the early 2000's that a Linux version of Planet Blupi was released. Having been abandoned for so long, this Linux version was fairly patchy, but it was still a very playable and entertaining game. However, there were no plans to port it to any other platforms. Sadly, this Linux port was also full of bugs and problems. Epsitec later released an updated version of Blupimania 2 under the name "Planet Blupi". This version contained all of the released content, with a few minor changes. However, even with these changes, it wasn't playable. Eventually, Epsitec pulled the plug on the project and released the source code for the game to the public. The developers decided to go their separate ways and it never released on any new platforms. As of this writing, Planet Blupi can be found on the Internet, but it is a public beta that you have to build yourself. The reason for this is that Epsitec haven't released their copy of the source code to anyone yet, and they don't intend to. However, the developers have released the source code for Blupimania 1 as well, which is playable. http://www.gnu.org/software/blupi/ – another program that inspired the name of the Blupi games. Perhaps the best thing about the game is the soundtrack. 84d34552a1
