With the new firmware update, an important, but often overlooked, feature is added. A local user could control the VioStor NVR remotely by IP address. It is highly convenient for users that IP cameras are scattered in different locations. A user could control the VioStor NVR through its local IP address instead of having to hard-wire connection. The firmware also provides user-friendly interface for the users. They can access to the VioStor NVR configuration through the Qnap Network Panel software and easily adjust its setting for further use.

We just had a successful tri-party meeting with Jacky Cheng from QNAP and Martin Haenni from iSpyConnect. The firmware for the new NVR features is tested and ready to be rolled out next month. The VioStor NVR is compatible with more than 1,000 IP cameras and video servers from popular brands including AXIS, ACTi, A-MTK, Arecont Vision, AVTECH, Brickcom, CNB, DIGITUS, D-Link, EDIMAX, ELMO, EtroVision, GANZ, Hikvision, iPUX, IPX, IQeye, LG, LevelOne, Linksys, Messoa, MOBOTIX, NAKAYO, Panasonic BB/BL/i-Pro, SANYO, SHANY, Sony, Samsung, Sharp, TOA, TOSHIBA, TRENDnet, Videosec, VIOSECURE, VIVOTEK, Y-CAM, and Yokogawa.

The new firmware is made available to the community for all QNAP product series (except the RS100). The VioStor NVR would be the first of its kind to support the new firmware. We would also be able to offer a free technical support for any firmware-related questions if you are still having concerns after the update.

At present, the firmware support only the connectivity over the network, including LAN and WAN. QNAP's engineers are working hard to make this outstanding new feature available for the VioStor NVR model 2.8 and will be released in June 2009. We are also working to incorporate the same feature to other VioStor NVR models. 84d34552a1
