while many people feel very strongly about language learning/teaching methods, there are no methods that i would say are always right or always wrong. as a teacher, i have taught using many different methods (including direct methods like callan method). i have seen students make progress using just about every possible method (including watching soap operas or listening to metallica). 


 we have many different ways of teaching as this is a multilingual program. in addition, if the student is already competent in the language, there is no need to start with the basics. we teach the student to read, write, listen, speak and understand by using the most up-to-date method. 


 the callan method teacher keep the pupil under pressure in the classroom which is why they learn so fasts. brainrush has also discovered that repetition is the success to learning and never forgetting. the callan method has repetition built into its programme which is why callan method students remember what the have been taught. 


we are not just about the method but are about people. you would not use the method if you didn't care about people, and that's why we teach people! there is no person we do not teach. it is not a robot method and has always been that way. we can be very strict when it comes to the method but that's only because we want to make sure you get the most out of it. we don't want to spend our time teaching you how to speak english, but you have to speak good english in order to be able to do well in the method.


hi david, thanks for your reply. i would like to make some comments about this method: - it's hard for teachers who don't know the method, they may get lost or feel silly in front of their students if they use it wrongly - some students have a harder time dealing with the method because of the amount of questions they have to answer, also the teachers have to spend time on teaching those questions for the class - they don't have any other learning or interactive element in the class, they learn the method's grammar points, and spend most of the time talking or answering questions - in some situations the students don't understand what the teacher says, they ask questions about grammar or vocabulary points - the teacher doesn't seem to care about their students and that's the reason why they don't get the most out of the method - with the method, the teacher is the student's slave, they have to repeat the grammar rules, memorize them and also answer all the questions - in my opinion, if we have the opportunity to learn a language, it must be fun. so i always try to use the most fun way to teach a language. i am always looking for more ways to be able to explain things in a simple, interesting way. 84d34552a1
