canvas-hackerkit

A set of terminal tools for Canvas

Set Up

1. Install Node.js:

Visit nodejs.org to install the LTS version.

2. Install git:

See github's git guide to learn how to install git.

3. Download the hacker kit

Download via terminal (recommended)

a. Open Terminal (mac/linux) or Command Line (windows)
b. Clone the hacker kit:

git clone https://github.com/harvard-edtech/canvas-hackerkit.git

Download via github.com (easier)

a. Visit the hacker-kit github.com page
b. Click "Clone or download" in green
c. Click "Download Zip"

4. Add your credentials

Create a new file in the canvas-hackerkit folder called accessToken.txt and paste your Canvas access token into that file.

Usage

1. Open terminal

2. Navigate into the hacker kit

Use ls to list the folders in the current directory.

Use cd folder_name to enter a folder.

Make sure you cd into the hacker kit.

3. Start the hacker kit

Run npm start.

Updating your HackerKit

Run git pull
