To get the new Jeppesen charts, I connect my 2m Elta transmitter and press the 'download' button. This puts the data into the Jeppview on my computer. Then I go to my preferred source for flight planning and updates and click on the 'i' icon. This shows a list of local aeronautical maps, each covering a specified area. From that list I choose my map and press on'save'. The Jeppesen charts are now copied from the computer to my Elta receiver. It now shows my receiver as my Elta source and the relevant Jeppesen charts are in the box where it shows the Elta transmitter I last clicked 'download'. I then press on 'download'. This saves the charts to my receiver for good. When I get to the airport I can press on the 'i' and download a set of charts covering the airport with no problems. Again the Jeppesen charts download. This is easy to do and user friendly.

I bought a JeppView 1505 to download charts as described in the beginning of the message. When I click on the download button there is no telling whether the data will work. I will have to try one of the layers at a time until it downloads properly. When it does download the display is a black screen with no navigation aids or information. If I press 'i' the display will show a navigation aid and the JeppView 1505-1 charts. They will not download or download incorrectly. If I click on the 'i' to display all the charts it brings up the same screen that doesn't download correctly. If I click on the 'u' to update the JeppView it says to click on the 'i' to update navigation charts.
