clean-fs

remove duplicated files from your filesystem

motivation?

i am a very lazy person and if i save my photos from my phone or camera, sometimes i save them on my workstation, sometimes on my laptop. When i put them all together there are always a lot of duplicated photos. i wrote this program to easily delete only the duplicated files from my file-system.

installation:

$ sudo npm install clean-fs -g

how does it work?

The program creates a md5-sum of every file and compares them against each other. If duplicated files are found you can confirm to delete them.

usage:

type in your command line 'clean-fs'

performance:

the program was tested successfully with a folder of 15 GB size and 886 images. The execution time was: 4 minutes.

note:

this program was tested on linux and windows. It should work on a mac too, but i didnt had the chance to test it.
