PowerDirector looks similar to Vegas Movie Studio, though the interface has some Material Design elements. Buttons are arranged in columns, as opposed to Vegas which uses rows. You can add titles, transitions, and effects, but a novice is going to have to work more than their time doing it. Vegas has the advantage of being the most straightforward. For instance, it's a one-page install in Windows. You run through the installation wizard, then can use the Media Library to add photos and videos. Vegas also has a solid selection of ready-to-use templates.


Expert features in Vegas Movie Studio and PowerDirector are similar. In both programs, you can import and output to formats such as AVI, MOV, MP4, and more. Depending on the format, you can edit audio and video separately or together. But for video editing the difference between the two programs is only the number of tracks and the templates. PowerDirector has a larger library of templates. Vegas Movie Studio is geared more towards making animated titles.


Pinnacle Studio 2020 can read almost all the formats you might want to use for video editing. Unlike Adobe you can alter the frame rate of clips and adjust the aspect ratio when trimming. Effects are limited but there's a pretty good one or two in the Effects Library.
