my printer is not opening up the recovery. the recovery led is not coming on either. print screen on printer is showing no ink and error. the only thing that it says is "clear ink tray". i cannot send it to customer support as they have no clue what to do with it. i have updated the ink drivers already but the printer still does not open the recovery. washed the cartridge as per the guide, but it has not helped. any other help? thank you. maurice


hi mark.i have had the same problem. i have had this printer for about 7 years and worked flawlessly. i have not changed any of the settings. i have tried the bios reset, the epson tool, and a 3rd party firmware. the printer has done everything else. the only way i can think to fix is to buy a new printer and find another (approx 300 usd). nothing in the f80/85 supports re-use of working ink. it does not report in its diagnostics that it is ink or paper related so when i print a test page a couple times it actually works great. the test page always is printed with medium (up to the top), but the test print on the actual work set rarely reaches the top. apparently this is the issue. of course i have tried everything. the warranty has expired. i don't remember if it is expired in the usa or canada.


i also have this same model printer and seem to have the same issue, as i have had for 7 years. i have tried to fix the ink issue on my own, with the epson tool, but nothing has worked. i think it is the firmware as the ink cartridges are on the printhead and there are no error messages in the diagnostics. i have also had that same problem with the epson 6500 inkjet printer and even when printing with high quality fine inkjet paper. i have also worked with several other inkjet printers and yet the laser printer will still print. i have a good friend who has a similar epson printer and he has had ink problems on his printer for about the same period of time as mine and he always has had the same problem; the printer will be printing fine and then it will suddenly stop printing. at first he thought it was his computer and so he would look up directions for his printer but that didn't work either. i also had a similar issue with my old canon print driver. a friend of mine had a similar problem with that printer and his to printer will start to print then suddenly stop, just as mine does. my friend is now using his old printer and is going to get a new printer. he said the epson works perfect. i do not have the tools to download the new firmware. 84d34552a1
