Apple claims it also created an app that continuously monitors any apps installed by any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch users. It can also notify Apple Store users about inappropriate content and high-risk apps. The app scans every content and screenshot of the app installed on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and compares it with the content available in app’s App Store. If the content is found inappropriate, the user can be notified.

According to Apple, the original intent behind the App Store was to provide a centralized distribution channel for mobile software in the Mac era, when other types of mobile software like ringtones and games were sold on a retail channel. However, this model was too costly for software developers and mobile operators, and it became impractical to use it to distribute apps with different pricing tiers like desktop software.

According to a new report from prominent anti-fraud platform, Playtika, Apple's new filters to prevent 'rogue' apps from being distributed have hit mobile game developers hard. Playtika's report said that developers are reporting lower daily revenues, up to 90 percent in some cases, from the apple store in China, while Playtika also found that 30 percent of app developers who sold their products through the Chinese App Store have seen their revenue fall by up to 90 percent.

According to Apple, the restrictions at the App Store won't go beyond what is required by the EU's ePrivacy directive. However, the company is keen to make clear that it is treating the EU and global sales of apps differently, and hasn't implemented the same restrictions on the global iOS App Store as it has in Europe. 84d34552a1
