With Crytek doing the original Crysis (on the PC/PS3), and Black Ops 2 on PS4, their third place a very predictable, they're in good position to make an excellent remaster of the first. With the remastered version of Crysis 2 on the Xbox, they're in the same situation as Black Ops 2 and CODWW2. We should hope for something good and not another horrible Crysis.
It is sometimes difficult to find good looking remasters of old games, and so I can appreciate the efforts Crytek has made in creating Crysis 1 Remastered. Fortunately, the game plays well and looks sharp, as well as showing off the highly capable Crytek engine.
It can be a very fun game when played on its own merits, but Crysis 1 is missing a handful of things. Firstly, it is often confusing how to move through Crythes world (in most titles, the camera sticks to the player) and there are a few instances when it gets stuck outside of the living room. These aside, the game looks pretty good for 2007 with polygonal characters and even 3D environments. It is necessary to point out that you need a decent graphics card to enjoy Crysis 1, and even if you do, the frame rate can drop pretty quickly.
New York City looks pretty dreary, though it is at least a contrast to the alien-infested environments, though no place is pristine in these games. Cryteks initial release of Crysis was epic and much faster than any of its contemporary rivals - but Crysis 1 is a step down. However, if youve played a Crysis game before and found the previous instalments lacked a certain spark, the remastered version of Crysis 1 may well fit the bill. Consistently good CryEngine games are hard to find, but Crysis 1 can hold its own against any of its peers. I liked that Crytek followed Crysis 1 with the continuation of Cryteks journey. 84d34552a1
