welcome! dante was born in 1953 in garapan, island of dominica, caribbean. his father was an important person and his mother was a nurse. dante has always liked reading and writing. he made his first steps to these fields of knowledge during his adolescence. he studied english and philosophy at the university of the west indies, st. augustine, his major field. he holds a doctorate degree in philosophy, with a dissertation devoted to ancient and medieval philosophy and the philosophy of language, where he defends the idea of a constructive and a reflective language, and that both have their significance, and they are based on the same foundation. for this reason, the philosopher marcelo dascal states: "dante urbina is a philosopher of language". in addition to his phd, dante has a bachelor degree in english language and literature. he taught in several institutions, namely, the department of philosophy of the university of the west indies, st. augustine, and he has also taught at several colleges. he is currently professor of philosophy of language at the pontifical catholic university of paraná, curitiba, brazil. 84d34552a1
