eighth grade science is often all about the science fair, so weve rounded up lots of terrific project ideas for students to try. science teachers will find ideas here, too, with hands-on activities and experiments kids can do in the classroom. these interactive ideas will teach kids so much about science and the world around them!

chemistry is all around you; it explains baking and why an apple turns brown when cut open. chemistry is the secret behind some magic tricks and colorful fireworks. so when you teach your students or children about chemistry, move away from using textbooks because this subject is best learned by observation and hands-on experimentation.

although we have many positive experiences with the previous editions, we have also experienced that this new edition is not the right time to revise all the experiments. therefore, we have attempted to provide the best possible solution for our readers. hopefully, we have done so successfully.

if you have already read the previous editions of this book, you will probably notice that all experimental results were based on the original stern and gerlach experiment. in the current edition, we have attempted to provide a modern view on the underlying basics of the experiments, i.e., the sterngerlach experiment and the neutron spin resonance experiments. all experiments in the first two chapters are based on the sterngerlach effect, and are presented without any mathematical analysis. in the third chapter, we include a first mathematical analysis, but our focus is on the sterngerlach experiment. in the fourth chapter, we include a small section on the sterngerlach experiment, where the theory is discussed and new experiments are included. furthermore, in the fifth chapter, we provide a detailed mathematical and physical analysis of the sterngerlach effect and how this effect is applied in practice. in the final chapter of the current edition, we include two sections on the work of paul ehrenfest, including the famous ehrenfest paradox. in this section, we attempt to show that the paradox results not from an incorrect use of the method of analysis, but can be solved using a simpler solution to the problem, and we show that this solution is more intuitive. in this respect, our work is still incomplete, and we have included it in the hope that others will be able to complete it. 84d34552a1
