As before, when Zeq2 Tr 2.0 was released, it contained a mirror of Krk's version of ZEQ2-lite using the text files and map descriptions, but without the primary engine code, which would've been a violation of the ZEQ2 GPL release. In the process of saving Zeq2 Tr 2.0 for a ressurection, I took some time to purge the code for 1.0 so that Zeq2 2.0 would not have a history of stale code.

We didn't have the quicksave/normal save/autosave code written at the time we released Zeq2 Tr 2.0. Zeth used a modified version of FIFA 2004 to provide the desired functionality for keeping the game running smoothly without errors. It has also been shown that there is significant performance improvement over the original code for Zeq2 Tr 2.0, as some artificial intelligence, physics, and simulation methods he developed are now possible.

An attempt was made to integrate an old version of Quake II into the Zeq2 Tr 2.0 engine. The idea was to leverage the engine's abilities to easily create levels and simulation components without having to mess with hex editing or use a map editor to slice.MAP files. The files were added to the zeq2-tr2.zip which was part of the zeq2-tr2 download (October, 2009). This integration was a sort of "Pong" table tennis match where we were able to use collision detection to create a game playable with aim and simple tilt.

To many of you, the free release was a big step to Zios and MDave's careers. Many people played the game and gave positive feedback, which boosted Zios' confidence in developing more open source content with released source code. 84d34552a1
