what is a symbol a symbol represents a stock or a commodity. you can enter multiple symbols at once. you enter symbol manually or by using the symbol assistant. the symbol assistant is a specialized tool that allows you to select as many as 10 stocks or commodities at once. when you use the assistant you see a list of symbols that you can select by clicking on them. the list of symbols is updated in real-time. if you select a stock/commodity and press the go button then amibroker will download its real-time data. if you choose to make charts using the amibroker the list of symbols will be replaced by the symbols you selected for the charts.


how do i get the amibroker working? you need to use the instructions in the readme file. it will guide you through all the necessary steps. after you follow the instructions you will be able to see the amibroker in action. when you open the amibroker you see the screen (see above screenshot) that lists all the symbols, their real-time quotes and the real-time chart. you can also adjust parameters (see below) and filter the symbols you are interested in.
