directing 47 s action from a third person perspective, absolution focuses on the characters, with 47 often looking like an ungarnished action star, living up to the title. the game includes a cutscene every time you shoot, and it mostly works, but its occasional lack of believability is uncomfortable and distracting. the dialogue is also shaky, with 47s awkward, over-the-top delivery jarring at times. the game remains consistent with the rest of the series, with 47s abilities being limited to shooting, stabbing and throwing guns.


its a game that is often very funny. hitman absolution has a lot of humor. its very humorous moments, and an excellent sense of humor. however, the game has a lot of flaws, and some of them are game design flaws, which are problematic, and a few of them are bugs, and they're not fun to have. 


as with its predecessor, hitman: absolution is a game in which you can be anything you like. you can be a full-on soldier, a stealth assassin, a bounty hunter, or an engineer, as long as youre the kind of person who has no scruples about killing. at its heart, theres a good old-fashioned shoot-em-up with stealth gameplay at its core, and that gameplay isnt really obscured or diluted by anything in the way of narrative or story. at no point does it feel like hitman: absolution is struggling to be more than what it is.


all of this is to say that the hitman: absolution series isnt afraid to be something other than what it is. it doesnt pull any punches. the world is destroyed in the opening moments of absolution, and there are no check points, no save points, no levels, no respawns. youre shot, you bleed, you die, and then you get up and do it all again. there are no bosses, no huge, open-world levels, and no instanced objectives. there is only one path you can take through the game, and that is to kill the people in the dark before the light of day can reveal their identity. 84d34552a1
