in the next step, set the color scheme (from the color palette generator) in the color picker. using the direct selection tool, drag the color scheme across the page to where you want it, be it the header, footer, navigation, copy or print buttons, etc.
you can easily copy and paste this into illustrator. simply place the file in your illustrator resources folder (you may need to make it first), then choose file >> import and select the adobe illustrator cs6 file.
you can also copy a color scheme from the kuler site to your own page. if you choose save current color scheme as template, the selected color scheme will automatically be saved to the file. if you select save > save as pdf or save > save as svg, you will be prompted to save the file as a pdf, or svg file. you can then import that file into illustrator and use it for your own page. this is the best way if you need to use a color scheme from your own site.
with the color scheme in hand, you'll probably want to make some changes. let's start with the main color scheme. you'll be using the quick selection tool to select the text and change it. if you want to select the entire text box instead of just the text, use the text selection tool. use the shift and alt keys to add more space between the text and the border. (you can press and hold the alt key and drag the line to create an outline around the text.) to add a border around the text, use the selection tool and drag the border line around the text.
and choose color at the bottom of the panel. this is great as you can adjust the settings as easily as in photoshop. go back to the original file and select some text. choose type tool from the top of your toolbox (or keyboard shortcut: t). click on the text to select it, and then choose edit/edit text from the menu. this will bring up the font dialog box. at the top of the dialog box, select your text color using the color picker which will fill in the text field. 84d34552a1
