Injuries to the lower extremity are a well-recognized source of disability for military personnel. The ankle joint and foot are the most commonly injured joint in soldiers. Explosive-related injuries are the most common cause of lower extremity injuries in those in the military. The main objective of this paper is to review the literature on epidemiology of military tank ammunition (TMA) injuries. A literature search was conducted using MEDLINE. Bibliographies of selected articles were searched for additional references. Original articles presenting data on epidemiology of military TMA injuries from the United States (US) and the United Kingdom (UK) were selected. Forty-four articles presenting data on TMA-related injuries were included in this review. Among the US studies, TMA injury was reported to account for 6.5% of all combat-related injuries, with 2.2 million cases reported from 2005 to 2006. The incidence rate of TMA injury in the US was higher in personnel who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts (3.01 per 100,000 person-years) than among those who served in the Vietnam conflict (0.21 per 100,000 person-years). In the UK, TMA injury accounted for 3.4% of all casualties and military operations in Iraq were associated with an increased incidence rate of TMA. In the US, the overall case-fatality rate associated with TMA injury was 27% for soldiers who sustained TMA injury in the Vietnam conflict; the case-fatality rate for these injuries increased to 50% after 2005. TMA are a significant source of disability in military personnel. Epidemiology of TMA injuries among US personnel suggests that the incidence of these injuries is increasing. The case-fatality rate associated with TMA injury has increased from 1.2% in the Vietnam conflict to 50% after 2005. Factors that increase the risk of TMA injury include previous experience with this mechanism of injury, soldier load carriage in armor, and enemy fire.We get a good look at Rami Malek in Star Wars: Episode VIII in this early behind-the-scenes photo. We also get some brief glances at the characters Rey and Finn. We also catch a quick glimpse of Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, and the actor who plays a grizzled Luke Skywalker in this photo. If you count John Boyega as Rey and the same actor as Luke, this photo features four of the five principle characters in the film, as well as Rey's parents. In the latest #StarWarsBuzz, we share another new piece of Episode VIII concept art. The information matches up with what we already know from previous Star Wars stories, but we might as well get some more details from Lucasfilm. The artwork depicts what's happening during the opening scene of the film. We see a Stormtrooper arresting a character, with Rey holding Luke Skywalker's lightsaber hilt. 84d34552a1
