Joe Walker Invitational 2023 Live Track & Field Broadcast

Ole Miss track & field will pay homage to its senior class with a large home meet at the sixth iteration of the Joe Walker Invitational at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex this weekend. The University of Memphis track and field teams hit the road for the Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford, Miss., on Friday and Saturday, April 7 and 8.

"This Ole Miss meet is extremely competitive," head coach Kevin Robinson said. "Some great teams and some elite-level individuals are competing this weekend. I'm really excited to see how some of our athletes can handle the pressure of a competitive environment like this one. It's a tremendous opportunity to compete against some of the best in the country."

The two-day competition begins Friday at 11 a.m. with the men's hammer throw and resumes on Saturday at 10 a.m. Live results to the meet can be found here.

Notables:

The Tigers opened their outdoor season at the Harding Invitational, where Samantha Lenton went three-for-three, winning the women's shot put (14.04m / 46'0.75"), discus (51.26m / 168'2") and hammer throw (58.81m / 192'11). Lenton then won the discus at the Ole Miss Classic with a 56.93-meter (186'9") throw that currently ranks tenth in the nation.
In the women's hammer throw at the Joey Haines Invite, Amber Simspon launched a 67.08-meter throw (220'1") to put herself at No. 2 all-time at Memphis in the event. Additionally, her throw ranks fifth in the NCAA this season. Lenton also threw a personal-best 60.47 meters (198'4") and finished third.
Jada Shanklin won the women's high jump (5'10" / 1.78m) at the Ole Miss Classic with a jump that currently ranks 17th in the NCAA.
Sascha Salesius Schmidt won the shot put with a personal-best throw of 17.92 meters (58'9.5") at the Harding Invite. That mark ranks 45th in the country. In addition, his discus mark of 53.43m (175'3") is No. 38 in the East Region.
Will Dibo won the men's discus at the Ole Miss Classic with a 54.23-meter throw (177'11"), a mark that currently ranks 32nd in the East Region and 67th in the country.
On the men's side, javelin thrower Vitaliy Favorov took gold at the Harding Invite in his season debut and won again last time out at the Ole Miss Classic (66.36m / 217'8"). His mark ranks 25th in the East Region.
Poorna Raorane's mark of 15.30m (50'2.5") in the shot put ranks 35th in the East Region.
