js-encryption

Simple encryption for JavaScript.

This module provides a simple way to encrypt data. Under the hood, it uses AES-256-CTR with HMAC-SHA256 to encrypt data. The encryption/decryption process was mainly taken from php-encryption.

Installation

Browser

You can use script tags

Examples

Encrypt and decrypt some data with a password

const textEncoder = new TextEncoder();

API

encrypt(data: Uint8Array, key: Uint8Array): Promise<Uint8Array>

Encrypts the data with the given key. Returns the encrypted ciphertext. The key must be 32 bytes long (for AES-256).

decrypt(data: Uint8Array, key: Uint8Array): Promise<Uint8Array>

Decrypts the ciphertext from encrypt() (data) with the given key. Returns the decrypted data. The key must be 32 bytes long (for AES-256).

encryptPassword(data: Uint8Array, password: string): Promise<Uint8Array>

Encrypts the data with the given password. Returns the encrypted ciphertext. The key must be 32 bytes long (for AES-256).

decryptPassword(data: Uint8Array, password: string): Promise<Uint8Array>

Decrypts the ciphertext from encryptPassword() (data) with the given password. Returns the decrypted data.
