jsnote-dj6

This package is an interactive coding environment. Once the package is installed locally, you can write Javascript code, then see it executed in a browser preview window that is adjacent to your code window. In addition to being able to create additional windows/cells to create more code blocks, users can also add Markdown text windows/cells. These cells can hold Markdown syntax, which will also be rendered as a standard .MD file, when viewed in a browser. Use these .MD text cells to store your own documentation of the code that you are writting & executing.

  • jsnote-dj6 opens by default at http://localhost:4005/.
    • A user can also assign which port on their local machiene they would want the application to run on, if different from default port: npx jsnote-dj6 3001
  • To begin, click on one of the button options to select either a code window or a text window.

  • Hoover your mouse just below the bottom of a code/text cell to see the buttons options appear for selection.

  • Users can import any NPM module that you wish to code with, such as React, ReactDOM, Axios, etc...

  • You can show any React component, string, number, or anything else by calling the execute() function. This is a function built into this environment. Call show multiple times to show multiple values

  • Re-order or delete cells using the buttons on the top right

  • Add new cells by hovering on the divider between each cell

  • All of your code will be saved to the file you opened JSnote-dj6 with. So if you ran npx jsnote-dj6 serve test.js, all of the text and code you write will be saved to the test.js file.

  • If you run the command: npx jsnote-dj6 serve, without a file declaration, the code will be automatically saved in a file name notebook.js, and the newly generated file will be stored inside the same directory that was used for the original npx jsnote-dj6 command.
