press the right ctrl and f2 keys simultaneously in the bios. if backlight is working then try the next keyboard backlight remover. if not just disable it. if it still doesn’t work try to find out the latest bios for your pc model and upgrade the bios.
with your mouse or trackpad hover over the on or off buttons near the top right corner of the laptop screen (some laptops have an easier way of doing this, but this one is what i used), you will see the right click option with a small arrow over it.
lenovo has a software program to fix the issues with the keyboard backlight that are occurring. you can download this program from the lenovo support website. however, it is not recommended that you try and make these changes manually unless you have a solid understanding of the bios and the advanced laptop setup options.
it is possible that some third-party software on your system may be conflicting with your backlight setting in the bios. you can fix this by going to "display settings" in control panel. from there, click on "advanced settings" under "display," and then click on the "advanced settings" link at the top of the page.
however, if you are absolutely sure that your system is not using a third-party program to control the backlight, you can try it out. exit the bios settings, continue booting the system up, and then press the function key on your keyboard to toggle the brightness from off to full bright.
if this does not work, you may have to use a utility called delta v4. this is a command line tool that can help you with troubleshooting what is causing the problem. go to the "links" tab, and select "delta v4. 84d34552a1
