the internet has also empowered minorities to publish their own media. websites like youtube, myspace, facebook, twitter, and others have been used to create and distribute media by minorities. this media is becoming increasingly effective in reaching masses of people. 


media is often blamed for the emergence of such a phenomenon. this is often true, but, in this era, it is no longer a small voice that goes unheard. it is now a powerful and often influential voice that is heard by millions. 


the second part of my essay will explore the impact of new media on identity politics. i will also touch upon the decline of the political mainstream and the crisis that is striking many in the liberal democratic world. 


while the information revolution has democratized the media, it has also come with the issue of credibility. news outlets now have to prove their authenticity before being considered credible by their audience. now, a news outlet can only be considered credible if they actively provide evidence and sources to substantiate their claims. otherwise, we can call them out as false and unauthentic.
