mdast-normalize-react-native

Applies transformations to the markdown AST (MDAST) to make it easier to render in React Native, because React Native (on Android) has some restrictions (such as no <View> inside <Text>) which makes it tricky to render markdown in native views. This package uses a few plugins that will create an AST friendly for rendering constraints in React Native.

Utilizes:

• mdast-add-list-metadata
  • Adds some useful metadata that can be used during rendering, for instance...
  • depth on list nodes indicates the depth of nesting
  • index on list item nodes indicates the ordering of the item
  • ordered on list item nodes indicates whether the parent list is ordered
• mdast-flatten-nested-lists
  • Guarantees no list inside a list item
• mdast-flatten-listitem-paragraphs
  • Collapses listItem > paragraph > * to listItem > *
• mdast-flatten-image-paragraphs
  • Collapses paragraph > image to image
• mdast-move-images-to-root
  • Moves image nodes up the tree until they are strict children of the root
