the first of these titles to release is dc universe online, a free-to-play game offering players the chance to play as all their favorite dc comics characters, including the justice league, the batman and the green arrow. although the story mode isn't much of a simulation, there are plenty of side missions to help fill the hours whilst players build up their characters using a skill system. players can also complete numerous quests. there are a few issues with the game, however. for starters, it's not possible to play on xbox one currently. more importantly, the players cannot control the dc universe; no superheroes have appeared and the league of assassins is nowhere to be seen. but, this is not stopping the warner bros. online from continuing to roll out their new expansion, legends of tomorrow. in the short term, players can gather during the champions online season 3 to help their allies defend the tower.

the first infinity engine game, marvel heroes, didn't offer players the opportunity to lead the heroes themselves. players instead take control of their own character. there was a lack of excitement within the gameplay, but the seamless storytelling offered by the marvel universe made up for this. players could pick characters and swap between them at any time and a variety of missions could be explored.

the second infinity engine game, marvel heroes 2, carried the excellent storytelling even further, adding on a battle mode to the mix. players could take control of a team of heroes on the ground and use their capabilities to win matches. the gameplay was fun as players could target their abilities to different team members and it soon became a must-have feature for anyone enjoying the online mode. 84d34552a1
