Modelica Parser in Javascript

This project was started when I needed a quick and dirty Modelica parser that I could run in a browser. It remains, at least to this point, a quick and dirty implementation.

This will generate both a Node.js and browser compatible parser. First, you need to have grunt-cli installed globally, i.e.,

$ npm install -g grunt-cli

Then you need to grab all the dependencies for this project with:

npm install

Then you should be able to generate modelica.js (a Node oriented parser) and modelica-browser.js (a browser oriented parser) by simply running:

$ grunt

Limitations

Parser

I've implemented nearly the entire Modelica grammar. The main things that are missing are slightly complex lexical rules about escaping and quoting. They really should be cleaned up at some point.

What really should be done is to run the entire Modelica Standard Library through this parser to see what it chokes on. If this continues to develop, I'll definitely do this. If someone else wants to do it, feel free.

Abstract Syntax Tree

The abstract syntax tree is, quite frankly, an abomination. The only thing I currently put in the tree or restricted class definitions and declarations. And even for those, I put almost nothing except their names and children.

I'm in the midst of one of my static typing phases and the prospect of going through and trying to get a robust AST without the benefit of dynamic typing is quite unappealing at the moment. Maybe, someday. I can't say right now.
