Easy to install, usage is simple to understand and modify, developer documentation is clear and concise and versioning has been rock solid in the years that I've been using Xposed. Modules are released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and are slowly incrementally upgraded as the months go by.

I believe in the future of Xposed. It is stable and will be even more so with the coming 1.x releases. The core functionality can be extended to make Xposed even more useful and powerful. It could be the solid, reliable foundation for developing custom ROMs that OEMs use in their devices. I'm interested to see what developers build on top of it. For now, I've re-enabled my devices in the hope that I'm not too late. Looking forward to your feedback to help shape Xposed.

Back when I was younger, I was a newbie Android developer. It was rough. I was earning my Android stripes and developing for the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). I found a lot of inspiration in the documentation for Android and the various examples that other developers provided me with. It was there that I first read about Xposed.

Xposed is a framework to write and install modules. Now, it's not very intuitive and can be a little bit overwhelming at first. This is even more pronounced when you start to compare it to the fact that there's not a lot of coverage out there. I write this today to help provide a bit more of an introduction to Xposed and to provide some motivation for developers to look at it.

Xposed was developed as part of the 2018 Google I/O keynote to provide a robust framework for customization, installation and, most importantly, ability to hook system methods. Developers are now able to write code which can be run before or after any of the methods that they're hooking. This means that system administrators can install modules, change the behavior of a phone or just help developers test their app-hell if you wanna call it that. Basically, it offers unprecedented control of a devices. More about that later. 84d34552a1
