the lapd turned their attention to the homeless problem recently. the city announced that it was going to do a major operation to clean up the skid row area. the los angeles police department (lapd) said that it is going to push out all the homeless encampments and clean up the garbage. lapd says that it wants to move over 300 people to more suitable housing and that they will start by distributing and preregistering them. la police chief charlie beck said, we have to move people off the streets in skid row. in the past, lapd has tried to get the homeless to move to temporary shelters, but that didnt work out. they fell through the cracks and because of skid rows poor conditions, the homeless people often resisted moving there. they just want to live where they are, instead of moving to a shelter. 84d34552a1
