passport-pushbullet

Passport strategies for authenticating with Pushbullet using OAuth 2.0.

This module lets you authenticate using Pushbullet in your Node.js applications. By plugging into Passport, Pushbullet authentication can be easily and unobtrusively integrated into any application or framework that supports Connect-style middleware, including Express.

Install

$ npm install passport-pushbullet

Usage of OAuth 2.0

Configure Strategy

The Pushbullet OAuth 2.0 authentication strategy authenticates users using a Pushbullet account and OAuth 2.0 tokens. The strategy requires a verify callback, which accepts these credentials and calls done providing a user, as well as options specifying a client ID, client secret, and callback URL.

var passport       = require("passport");
var pushbulletStrategy = require("passport-pushbullet").Strategy;

passport.use(new pushbulletStrategy({
    clientID: PUSHBULLET_CLIENT_ID,
    clientSecret: PUSHBULLET_CLIENT_SECRET,
    callbackURL: "http://127.0.0.1:3000/auth/pushbullet/callback",
    scope: "everything"
  },
  function(accessToken, refreshToken, profile, done) {
    User.findOrCreate({ pushbulletId: profile.iden }, function (err, user) {
      return done(err, user);
    });
  }
));

Authenticate Requests

Use passport.authenticate(), specifying the "pushbullet" strategy, to authenticate requests.

For example, as route middleware in an Express application:

app.get("/auth/pushbullet", passport.authenticate("pushbullet"));
app.get("/auth/pushbullet/callback", passport.authenticate("pushbullet", { failureRedirect: "/" }), function(req, res) {
    // Successful authentication, redirect home.
    res.redirect("/");
});

Optionally, the forceVerify option can be set to true to indicate that the user should be re-prompted for authorization:

app.get("/auth/pushbullet", passport.authenticate("pushbullet", {forceVerify: true}));
