1.3 Content of the Text This book is designed as a text for students taking introductory statistics and applications, and has been designed to meet the course requirements of the single honours course in business statistics, as well as for courses of an A-level equivalent standard. Whilst covering a wide range of topics, this book will concentrate on those topics that are directly relevant to course based problems.
With this book as a reference the student is provided with an insight into and knowledge of the techniques of statistics for business, and should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the data sources, processes, methods and procedures of business
1.4 Organisation This book is divided into two parts. The first part is an introduction to the statistical techniques of business. The second part is a selection of exercises and problems for each chapter, which provide a reference for the techniques covered. A final chapter looks at further applications and considers problems that might arise in the real world. Each chapter is split into two parts. The first part defines the techniques; this forms the core text, which is then elaborated in further detail in the second part, where the techniques are applied to problems. 84d34552a1
