phpstorm has some advanced debugging capabilities that are particularly useful for web applications. among them are: debugging in parallel, inspect executed remote urls, debug multiple pages in multiple sessions simultaneously, view the contents of form values, and more. you can customize the debugger settings and settings in the web application runner, so that the ide is automatically run in debug mode whenever you run a phpunit test suite or your own custom web application.


i just downloaded phpstorm a few weeks ago and it's phenomenal. it runs on linux, and is a full-featured ide (without requiring a huge suite like netbeans to go with it) the extras are really what separates it from the other tools i have worked with. it includes not just a debugger but also a profiler so you can see how your code is working.


ive been looking for a decent ide for php for a long time now, and i havent been able to find one that combines being free, have a large community (my version is used by almost half of the top 1 million websites) and most importantly, isnt a pain in the ass to get set up to be used. ive checked out virtually every ide that has supported php (not every one does), and ive heard things about netbeans and eclipse, but once i downloaded and tried them, i realized they were more than a little ridiculous to get running. phpstorm has all the features any ide should have (code completion, goto definition, declarations), but the best part is that it doesnt force you to use it the way netbeans does. in netbeans you have to create custom folders and paths for all your classes, and that doesnt play well with linux or windows deployments.everything is built to work out of the box, you just need to remember your password for phpstorms cloud services and youre good to go. 84d34552a1
