these effects are roughly the same as the standard effects in powerdirector, but they don't have the same groupings. a lens flare effect for example looks like the lens flare in the essentials tab in pinnacle.

if you want a sticker-like effect, like the cartoon effect in powerdirector, go to the welcome tab and choose cartoon. then you create a new cartoon effect from the list (right-click on the one in the list) and it gets a similar layout as the others. the ui is the only odd thing about the style. unlike standard effects, you can't turn off the effect once you've applied it to a clip, but it's easy enough to create an empty new scene for the effect.

the program offers a fair selection of effects, including three paint effects that include pencil, oil, and cartoon. you can rotate the image to make it appear flipped or display a grid to help you line up your clips. you can adjust the effect strength with sliders.
