PlasmaFractal.js

Generate plasma fractals in JavaScript. A.k.a.: the random midpoint displacement fractal, cloud fractal, diamond-square algorithm ...

Demo

See the unexciting canvas demonstration.

Usage

Object-oriented:

var fractal = new PlasmaFractal({
  width: 600,
  height: 600
});

var data = fractal.generate();

Simple:

var data = PlasmaFractal.build({
  width: 600,
  height: 600
});

Low-level:

var data = PlasmaFractal.generate(
  0, // starting x coordinate
  0, // starting y coordinate
  600, // width
  600, // height
  Math.random(), // seed value for top-left corner
  Math.random(), // seed value for top-right corner
  Math.random(), // seed value for bottom-right corner
  Math.random(), // seed value for bottom-left corner
  function(d, w, h) { // midpoint displacement function
    return (Math.random() - .5) * d / (w + h) * 3;
  };
);

Install

Using npm:

$ npm install plasmafractal

Using Bower:

$ bower install plasmafractal
