Introduction

Welcome to the documentation for Random Inspiration. This package delivers a single random quote based on a specified topic or author, or provides a random quote without any specific criteria.

Usage

Getting Started

To use this package, first install it using npm:

npm install randominspiration

Then, use it in your project:

Basic Usage

import { deliverQuote } from 'randominspiration';

// Fetch a motivational quote (defaults to topic 'motivation')
deliverQuote().then(quote => console.log(quote));

// Fetch a quote by topic
deliverQuote('god').then(quote => console.log(quote));

// Fetch a quote by author
deliverQuote('Albert Einstein').then(quote => console.log(quote));

Note: The deliverQuote function accepts a single parameter which can be either a topic or an author. Combining multiple criteria (e.g., 'einstein god') is not supported. For combined searches, make separate calls to the function.

Minimalistic Async Usage with Variable and IIFE

Usage with Try-Catch

Error Handling: The deliverQuote function may throw errors in cases such as:

Issues reading the quotes.json file.
Invalid JSON format in the quotes.json file.
No quotes available that match the specified topic or author.

Make sure to handle these potential errors in your application code to ensure a smooth user experience.

Additional Notes

Ensure that quotes.json is properly formatted and located in the same directory as your code or adjust the path accordingly.
The deliverQuote function caches the quotes to improve performance. The cache is refreshed if an error occurs during the reading of quotes.
