Installation

npm install react-native-scaling

Usage

import { Component } from 'react'
import { View, Text } from 'react-native'

/* This is all you need to do most of the time */
import { Stylesheet, Scaling } from 'react-native-scaling'

/* Use like regular StyleSheet from react-native */
const styles = StyleSheet.create({
	body: {
		...StyleSheet.absoluteFillObject,
		flexDirection: 'column',
		padding: 16
	},
	title: {
		fontSize: 24,
		fontWeight: '500'
	},
})

class TheComp extends Component {
	render() {
		return (
			<View style={styles.body}>
				<Text style={styles.title}>Hello World</Text>
			</View>
		)
	}
}

export default TheComp

API

StyleSheet

A wrapper around react native StyleSheet with same methods and properties like create(), flatten(), absoluteFillObject, etc. only create() method has added functionality for scaling.

StyleSheet.create(styleSheetObject:Object [, scale:Number])

The param scale is to specify scaling for the stylesheet, which is multiplied with all the layout style properties like width, fontSize, margin, etc. that use a number (not %) as value. if not specified, it uses global scale value which is 1 by default.

Scaling

This object is to configure the properties of the library.

Scaling.setGlobalScale(scale:Number)

Sets the global scale value to scale

Scaling.getGlobalScale():Number

Returns the global

Scaling.style(style:Object [, scale:Number]):Object

Computes a single style object with provided scale value (uses global scale value if value not provided). Can be used in a component's style prop. Example:

<View style={Scaling.style({fontSize:16})}>...</View>
Scaling.styles(styleSheet:ObjectOrArray [, scale:Number]):ObjectOrArray

Computes a set of styles in an object or array of styleSheet with provided scale value (uses global scale value if value not provided). Can be used in a component's style prop.

Example 1:

const styles = Scaling.styles({
	body: { padding:16 },
	title: { fontSize:24 }
})
// then use like...
// <View style={styles.body}>...</View>

Example 2:

<View style={Scaling.styles([styles.one,styles.two,{fontSize:16}])}>...</View>
