OVERVIEW:

Get the pixel-based resolution of the host device.

Include this script and then do something like this:

console.log("device resolution is " + resolutiondppx);
// device resolution is 1

More Information:

device resolution is obtained differently depending upon the browser (webkit or non-webkit).

Webkit supports pixel-based resolutions (dots per pixel, dppx, dots/pixel). The W3C added standards for pixel-based resolution styles and newer browsers support them but not the same way webkit does.

Webkit script environments provide easy access to device resolution:

resolution = window.devicePixelRatio;

Other browsers don't provide this. They do support matchmedia and it may be used to obtain a similar value.

Example devicePixelRatio values are 1, 2 and 2.25. These values are used in the examples in this document.

This script is understood easily by viewing its source.

INSTALL:

resolutiondppx may be downloaded directly or installed through npm.

If you coerce resolutiondppx into a string value, you'll get the device resolution.
