i've been a huge fan of the rome: total war series since i first played it. i picked up rome: total war on launch day and absolutely enjoyed it, so when i found out that the next instalment, rome: total war: barbarian invasion, was coming out it was a big deal for me and my steam library. when this game was announced to be released in may, i of course was thrilled. but when i started playing it a few days later i knew i was in for a treat. this review will be split into three sections, the base game, the expansion, and the trials. with the notable exception of the first of the month, these will be released in the order in which they were released. 


the barbarian invasion has a few major additions to rome: total war, both to the military and the naval aspects of the game. while the barbarian invasion is set in the 5th century, there are also a few changes and additions that have been made to the tactical and strategic side of the game as well. having watched the season pass trailer, i think that the interactive map is a great addition to the game. 84d34552a1
