it seems that the state of our little human world is ripe for the picking. this is the zombie apocalypse, people, so if you've got no interest in an ambitious puzzle game with loads of hidden object and a tragic theme, you should probably drop this one. but if you're the kind of player who enjoys a nice story and some way to pay homage to your favorite deceased film stars, you can't do much better than this.

programmed by cynthia lee, assistant art director of macromedia, and the mastermind behind such hits as ninja gaiden and air gear. this is the type of game you play to get worked up, or to listen to while you're grumpy; you play it to get lost in time and let it flow you like a gentle balm on the soul. there's a lot going on in this game, but it never gets overwhelming, thanks in large part to those aforementioned cleverly integrated physics devices, which allows the moves to feel real and engaging. the interesting visuals and music are also a big help, since this game can get a bit of a muddy, unappealing look at times. it's fun, campy stuff, even though not everything is quite as polished as it should be. some of the audio dialogue isn't the best, and the fairies who you fight throughout the game aren't always as irritating as they should be. but you can't put a price on such quality, and if you're not too picky about the idea of the concept, you'll be happy for a very enjoyable ride.

crash bandicoot's legacy lives on in one of gaming's most celebrated platformers, and yet, how do you make a 2-d platformer classic with a new generation? you bring in some things that weren't in the original, mind you, and also improve on some of the annoyances that come with age. it's still easy to die on a regular basis as you jump from pillar to pillar. it's still awful when you jump off a cliff only to come back down and have to jump again. it's still very aggravating when objects you jump on pop out and trip you the next time you step on them. but with the aim of teaching these skills to its younger audience, crash team racing 2 distills the likes of those annoyances and throws in some modern enhancements. it's a surprisingly fun game (especially when your platformer good guys crash!).this is the top-down racing game at its finest; it's all about hitting opponents with your car, and each track has an energetic personality of its own. the courses are densely populated with enemies that will try to get in your way, and they also have occasional sprints or two-way boss battles, which increase your odds of winning. the variety of vehicles and tracks provide hours of driving fun, and there are plenty of hidden secrets to find inside some of the tracks. racing modes aim to keep the game fresh, and the developers didn't skimp. not that you'd have any trouble finding out what their names are. 84d34552a1
