it looks like the particular aircraft is based at culdrose and i know that the t1 and jet hawk are very different aircraft. this particular aircraft is powered by the k&e fj33 turbine engine and the ifr (instrument flight rules) controls are fully usable with the sode system. please note the nh976 warning light.

the aircraft was delivered to the royal navy on the 31st march 1978. the time of sale was 1999. the hawk is a two seater with a v shaped cockpit and the instructor is behind the instructor in the second seat where the “shotgun” normally is. note the oxygen valve (yellow arrow above right).

now that rnas culdrose has come under the control of mod (ministry of defence) it now has a base at culdrose meaning the clearance of the rear of the aircraft is no longer possible, so i can only look from behind. i haven’t got room to work in front of it so i leave that to others and carry on making airbase reference material. can anyone tell me how to get into the cockpit to look at the controls. the goto control line is too short to reach the instrument panel and the instructors’ side stick has been removed.

the instructor in this aircraft is on the instructor’s side. i’m not comfortable with this position for the controls. i tried to lean back further to look at the controls, i can’t get in the right viewing position without leaning back and the aircraft shakes a little bit. i keep edging forwards to get into the three point position. aircraft recommended to practise on for the controls. my only observation was that the tail’s flap doesn’t work, the tabs on the wing don’t do anything. 84d34552a1
